"The only thing hurting right now is my head. I don’t know why you came looking for me, but if you’re doing saying what you needed to say, you can go now. I came here to enjoy a drink not talk about my brother, especially not to you." Lifting the bottle of tequila he’d requested earlier. "Didn’t one of your, quick to jump to conclusions, friends tell you. This is how I always am. Or did you think you were somehow special."
"You’re the one that brought up Stefan. Not me." Elena said honestly, snatching the tequila from his hand and hiding it behind her back. "I think you really need to chill out for a second and turn down the emo mix. I care about you Damon, but this is isn’t all of you. I hope you realize that sooner rather than later."
Elena decides to drop the bottle on the ground, faintly noticing as it shatters into a million pieces.
"you can’t just think every character is queer" watch me. watch me
"Jealous. Of what exactly a woman who looks exactly like the one who ruined my entire life? Someone so naive that she doesn’t even see when the monster is trying to save her from a worse fate. Fine Elena, I’ll tone it back, but don’t you dare come whining to me when he breaks his puppy dog diet." Piercing blue eyes cut away from her as his head shook slightly. "Do me a favor Elena, and stop caring."
"You’re hurting." Elena said simply, unfazed by his words and simply shrugging. He was always grumpy and took whatever excuse he could to lash out. "I get that — but do you have to say those things about your own brother? I can look like Katherine if you want, I can’t change that, but seriously — who pissed in your bitch flakes this morning? Just wondering."
"I’d have to be around to be jealous." Elena said honestly with a soft voice and the hint of a fall. "Stefan isn’t like that anymore, anyways, Damon. Not these days, so please get over it."
"Right because you know him so well. Wake up Elena, or will you still be saying that as you help him jigsaw the bodies.” For once his tone was honest, the expression on his face was almost angry, he’d known his brother was trying to change but he’d seen this before, more then once, how he’d managed to drag Elena in this far Damon couldn’t truly fathom he only hoped to give her a large enough dose of reality as not to see his younger sibling with rose-colored glasses any longer. “Love him all you want Elena, he’ll destroy you faster then you all assume I will.”
"Maybe you should tone the jealousy down a little." Elena suggested and a small shrug of her shoulders, letting his words slide off of her back like water. Damon liked to lash out when he was hurting, even if it meant hurting her. He wasn’t innocent; none of them were. "I care about him Damon, just like I care about you. I came to find you here."
